A Summer Escape

It was one of those late spring days that make you fear the summer to come. The city was alive as always, taking deep breaths of sweat and hustle. I needed to get away. Find a river to splash around in, skip some rocks, pour a glass of cold wine, dance and laugh and lay in the grass looking at the sky. I needed to feel the sun on my face and breathe fresh mountain air and hear nothing but the wind streaming through the trees. I needed to see the night sky blanketed in stars. So I went north, to the Catskills. And found there, and in myself, everything I was looking for.
